David Widart is a Belgian artist whose work exists within the realms of the autobiographical and hyper-realistic. Winner with his book La Roue Voilée (L'Amicale, 2013) of the Fernand Baudin Prize and with exhibitions at FoMu - Fotomuseum Antwerpen, Bozar (Brussels) and Nederlands Fotomuseum in Rotterdam to his name, his images reveal a striking contrast between the hard-nosed and the soft - touched, and a predilection for a beauty enveloping the raw and the rough. They reveal juxtapositions of class, race and subversive, being in his home country or abroad - giving a candid yet insightful lens into the social milieu of a given place and time.
